Porcelain Tub: Photographs and Poem by Charley Czajkoski

It’s full

Enveloped in warmth

Difficult to breath

Held close

Heat beginning to burn

An instant calm

It’s draining

Refreshing air

Difficult to breath

New sensation

Cold beginning to freeze

An instant calm

It’s circling

Skin dry

Goose bumps appearing

Free of weight

Emptiness beginning to set in

An instant panic

Grasping as it slips down the drain

Watching as it circles

Round and Round

and Round

Round

And all you can do is watch

As the last bit of that warmth

Is sucked down

Dark

You are left

Porcelain cold

Hard

Candles flicker

Laying there

Trying to grasp

What is gone
